happy earth day!

of course, it should be everyday... but today's it's official. a day to embrace the wonders of our world and to remind ourselves to do our part in taking care of this magical home we were born into.

in my kindergarten class... earth day provided the perfect opportunity to take my usual rants (about how cool nature is &/or how ignorant people can be) to the limit. and, believe it or not, these 6-year-olds would much rather hear about where their food comes from & where there trash ends up (for example) than about adjectives and verb tenses.

so i spiced up my kiddie lecture w/ some earth day word puzzles, etc. but the best part of the day was getting to introduce them to THE LORAX, by dr. seuss. it's absolutely the best earth day story evah. dr. suess totally backed me up. here's a clip (enjoy!!):
